For Organizers

Shop in Solidarity is a neighbor-led effort to encourage local shopping in support of immigrant-owned businesses.

After recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity led to disruptions and fewer customers for many shops, neighbors are stepping in to help.

Residents, neighborhood groups, and community networks anywhere in the Twin Cities or across Minnesota are welcome to organize a Shop in Solidarity day (or days) in their own area.

How it works

Neighborhood organizers choose their own dates, identify participating businesses, and spread the word within their community. The activity itself is simple: neighbors show up and shop.

There is no participation fee and no required programming. Businesses may offer promotions or special features, but nothing extra is expected.

Neighborhood-organized events can be listed on shopinsolidarity.com for visibility and may direct prospective businesses to the site for information and to express interest through the business contact form. However, each neighborhood is fully responsible for planning and carrying out its own event. Additional organizing support, including promotional material development and event coordination, may be offered through the SIS Twin Cities and its corresponding Instagram account, subject to volunteer availability.

Shop in Solidarity is built on voluntary participation — neighbors supporting neighbors.
