About

Shop in Solidarity is a grassroots, neighbor-led effort to support immigrant-owned businesses through coordinated local shopping days.

The idea emerged in response to the reduced customer traffic, staffing disruptions, and store closures that many neighborhood stores have experienced as a result of Operation Metro Surge. Rather than step back, residents chose to step forward by organizing simple, visible ways to show care and material support, with the first Shop in Solidarity days taking place Feb 28 and Mar 7 in the Summit-Hill & Summit-University neighborhoods.

The concept is simple: Encourage neighbors to shop locally and show up for the businesses that keep their neighborhood vibrant. There is no central organizer. Each neighborhood sets its own dates, spreads the word, and invites neighbors to show up.

Shop in Solidarity is how neighbors stand with local businesses to hold community together.
